Kim Diaz, Regional Director (AL, FL, GA, NC, SC)

At MiEN Company, our mission is to create innovative, functional, and flexible furniture solutions for evolving learning environments. We wouldn’t be able to make this vision a reality without the dedicated individuals who work hard to make MiEN a leader in learning space design.

Today, we’re highlighting Kim Diaz, MiEN’s regional director overseeing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Kim is passionate about creating innovative environments that enhance learning and has been an outstanding member of the MiEN team since September 2015.

Professional Background

Kim is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in marketing. During her time at Bowling Green, she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority where she was involved with the organization’s philanthropic efforts. As a lifelong learner, Kim decided to pursue and complete a Master of Business Administration in 2016.

Favorite MiEN Project

Recently, Kim had the pleasure of working on a project with Bartow County School District in Georgia, where she played a key role in transforming an old weight room into a large STEM innovation center. The space began as a blank slate with cinder block walls and concrete floors, but it underwent a complete overhaul to become an innovative and inspiring space.

Kim and her team incorporated 45 different MiEN products throughout the design, and after significant renovations––including the addition of a large garage door to the outdoors––the space turned out beautifully. Collaboration with the district to select finishes resulted in a cohesive and inviting space. Now, users ranging from Pre-K to adults can enjoy the space equitably and access the benefits of the innovative STEM environment.

Inspiration at MiEN

Kim is inspired by the MiEN interior designer she is partnered with, Marissa Onesian, who she is grateful to work with every day. The two have completed over 100 projects together and in doing so have perfected their process, ultimately making the results incredibly effective. Marissa’s fresh ideas and attention to detail guarantee each client receives a great design every time.

Kim enjoys working on media center designs, and she loves using innovative MiEN products to accomplish schools’ goals for these spaces. Some of her favorite MiEN products to use in media centers and beyond include the Chameleon lounge series, FLEX soft seating series, KIO mobile storage pieces, Connect collaboration tables and Hard RKR stools. Kim appreciates how these products are so different from the tables and chairs that students are used to sitting in for many hours of the day.

Beyond the Office

When she isn’t working, you can probably find Kim courtside, watching her two sons play basketball. Both of her boys are in high school, and they play on rival teams!

During the pandemic, Kim picked up tennis as a hobby and discovered that it was a passion of hers. She has become much more involved in the sport, winning five state championships and her 4.0 team won the National Championship in October 2023!

Kim Diaz’s commitment to cultivating strong partnerships and fostering innovation makes her a valuable member of the MiEN family. We feel privileged to have her as a part of our team, and we look forward to the ongoing positive influence she will contribute to our clients and projects in the future.
